People
The Temples Of Angkor are
Spectacular, but it is the people of Cambodia that turn a
holiday here into an unforgettable experience.
Here are just a few of
my favourite
portraits and people pictures

The wheelchair bound limbless
beggar , lost both legs in a
mine accident while in battle. An intelligent and
proud man.; he was forced to beg for a living as there was little
support for Ex army land mine victims. He has now has a
job; so can now support his family.
His
photo was merged in Photoshop with an image of the cells of the Tol
Sleng Extermination prison; using a backdrop of a Security
Regulations sign 'projected' on the wall.
"Victim
of a Revolution" was one of finalists in black and white class
in the 2008 FCC Foreign Correspondents Club International Photo
Competition in 2006

Bouquet
Through Barbed Wire
Taken
at the Choeung Ex Killing Fields near Phnom Penh in 2002. The girl was
selling flowers through the wire. It is a statement of optimism for a
country which went through decades of war and since 1998, has found
peace and relative prosperity.
The
photo was originally taken on colour slide film; scanned and all colour
was removed except for the yellow flowers.

Hitchers>>
Driving
through a remote village, I was stopped by a herd of
cattle on the road. Five kids climbed on the back of my
vehicle to hitch a ride. I looked behind to see their
grinning faces and took this shot before moving on slowly
down the dusty road a few hundred metres to the the village.
I dropped them off and they all thanked me.
If
that sort of thing happens in the West it could be
considered as a threat! Out here its just another amusing
story, |
