Rattankiri
Now Becoming the Trekking
centre for North East Cambodia; Rattankiri is a land of
Volcanic crater lakes, broad rivers, waterfalls and hill
tribes who are relatively unused to tourism.
The pictures on this page were
taken by Ta Elit and are a visual account of his first visit
here at the end of 2005.

Yaklom Hill Lodge: Near Banlung
Trekking through forest Taking a dive in the Crater lake
We stayed at the Yaklom Hill lodge near the
small town of Banlung. It is a delightful ecological centre set in lush
gardens. At the end of a days trekking the Crater Lake is the perfect
place for a swim.

Gem miners
Village boys live apart from their Families in these amazing stilt houses
above before adulthood! The girls have more accessible accommodation on
upper left. Gem mining and rubber plantations are a major source of
income here.

A major feature of the area are the
spectacular waterfalls fed by the ample rainfall in this tropical
paradise.
